Description

Treasurer of United States will remit sum of $362.40 to Carrington who in turn will forward sum to Capt. Richard Blackburn as payment to him and his detachment at Fort Norfolk. Payment to Patteson, the Forage of Surgeon's mate, also made through remit sum. Duplicate receipt for July 1797 owed to Patteson, requested by Simmons. Letter mentions directions for appropriation of money sent July 19 found in letter of same date.
