Title

Horses for the Service of the War Department

Description

Steele asked the Secretary of War about the proability of his wanting horses for the use of the War Department. The Secretary indicated that horses would be needed so Steele examined the two that are currently at Knight's Stable. To avoid complications regarding Knight's commission for selling them, Hodgdon should say nothing to him about the price or payments.
