letter to Congress taken from there journals excepted -
The tale of the capturing my servant with the rough drafts of the letters, was plausibly told to excite a belief of their authenticity: But neither my mulatto man Billy, nor any other of my attendants was ever made prisoner;

with respect to the passaged omitted in the two volumes of my official letters already published, I presume &c.
