december the 1st, 1796
Sir I take the liberty to write to you to let you know that Mr. [undecipherable] has been hear this morning to see of [undecipherable] but could get no private Conversation with him I did not see him my self nor hear him talk to I alone but he tells me that powers wanted him to sine A recepte that he got the powers of him but on him telling powers he never seen them before powers said believed he was mistaken now sir spare me no pains to find that mater and tell powers that is on And informed that the ind. Such a man and that he powers or Shafer shall bring forward drakely to you and if the bring forward such a man that says he is drakely sees him [undecipherable] by and put him in [undecipherable] and on trasing his place of abode if he dont prove to be another man I will be willing to suffer [undecipherable]. I likewise think it would be well to send somebody to tell him he need not depend on what Shafer told him in Regard of any evidence that he had better tell the truth and he shant be hart on [undecipherable] my [undecipherable] will be you good against him and be of it bad confidence and seen him all you can and try to catch the other one I am sir your humble servant
