Rejoice my dear General, to learn from
Mr. Bingham that your health is even
better than usual, and that you propose
making a visit to Philadelphia in the
course of the winter. [undecipherable] the
freedom of inviting you to pitch your tent
with me while you remain in our city-
a good bed, a clean fire side, a wholesome
ration, and a most affectionate welcome
await you. It is unnecessary to say
that there exists no Being with whom
I can more gladly and gratefully share
the comforts I enjoy, than with you
my ever respected and beloved friend.
Come, then,
and enable me to repay a mite of that
mass of goodness which I have received
at your hands - and if any of your
family are hapning this way tell them
that they will make me happy by a
call, and by taking a bed at my house.
Let me have an opportunity of
demonstrating to all your friends, who
come to Philadelphia, my respect
for your introduction of them.
Make my best compliments
acceptable to Mrs. Lincoln, and to
the family - and believe me with
heartfelt affection.
