Swords Available for $7.50 Each

Description

The Secretary of War has directed Jones to transmit to Hodgdon an extract from D. Gamble to the Secretary of War in which he discusses a group of young men who were forming themselves into a volunteer troop of horse [cavalry]. Gamble imported complete horseman's hangars and iron scabbards for them but, due to a mistunderstanding about the choice of officers, they will probably not be deployed and many swords remain on hand that can be bought for $7.50 each.
