I am directed by Col: Tousard to inform you that this Garrison is in great need of Summer Clothing, the undernoted will be very necessary to furnish the Men with previous to their leaving this place
Viz
50 Helmets, Plumes and Cockades
15 Serjeants Costs
15 [Serjeants] Vests
15 pr [Serjeants] Epaulettes
500 pair privates Linen overalls, very few have been issued this Season
12 Musicians Coats
250 Linen Knapsacks, none have been sent to this Garrison; the greater part are either worn out or unfit for Service - Captain Fleming has issued Raw Hide Knapsacks they will not answer & have been Retd the [Here?]
50 Blankets
Col: Rochefontaine nearly the commencement of last month, requested me to make an estimate of the Clothing , necessary to complete an allowance of six Months, for three Battalions, which was added to my Return representing the State of the Store, on the first of the Month, which I suppose has come to hand,
The great need we have for the above Mentioned Clothing, to enable the Men to leave this
Garrison, has induced Col: Tousard to order me to make this request; Your putting into execution as expeditiously as possible will contribute very [essential?] comfort of the Men.
