Title

Preparedness in the event of war with Canada

Description

Secretary McHenry writes Robert Oliver to first ask that his name be kept out of view. The Jay Treaty will be complied with by Great Britain and America compensated for its captured property. There is still, however, the concern that military operations may be necessary against Canada, and McHenry fears that the necessary appropriations by Congress will not be made. McHenry asks if powerful people could not use their influence to spur action.
