Pittsburg 8th May 1795
Sir
I have received your letter of the 2 Instant. Soon after General Morgan took Lost at Bentleys Farm an arrangement was made for a Dragoon to set off from Headquarters in time to be in Pittsburg previous to the arrival of the Eastern Post, & to return immediately upon receiving the dispatches for the General his arrangement Continues & the Express has this moment recrossed the Monongahela on his return to Head quarters with your letter to the General.
Colo. Butlers Recruits are encampt this side of the Allegheny on fine ground, they are generally good men but would make a better appearance if they were all in uniform. I presume Cloathing is on the way from Philadelphia for them.
