Description

Knox informs Secretary of Treasury Hamilton that he forwards list of articles for equipping 44 gun ships; expects requirements to be similar for 36 gun ships. Heavy cannon and shot already requested. Military stores to be specified. Knox sends this letter in order to better enable Hamilton to determine means of procurement, whether by contracts or through agents appointed at the ship construction locations. Captain Truxton has useful information on procurement of copper and anchors.
