Title
Cabinet Meeting on the Drafting of Militia
Description
Upon consideration of the letter from the Pennsylvania governor respecting his drafting 1000 men of the western militia of his state for the purpose of supporting a detachment to take possession of Presque Isle, President Washington believes that it is advisable to suspend the operation. Washington believes that the probability of an "immediate rupture" with the Six Nations, allied with the British, is reason for the temporary suspension.
