Dear Sir.
Permit me to introduce to you the bearer
Mons: Perrault, who is appointed a Temporary Engineer in the
Service of the United States-He has the draft of a Cannon Car-
--riage of which he is to make a model for the Secretary of War
who requests that you will be pleased to assist M. Perrault by
furnishin him with one or more skillful mechanics to per-
=form the labor necessary thereto-
