Sir,
I have examined the records of this Office relative to the claims (now before you) of John Carr Lieutenant of the late Maryland line, it appears from the accounts of the State that he has been paid his depreciation as Lieutenant (in full) in the same manner with the other officers of that line, and from a settlement of his accounts by the last Assistant Commissioner of Army Accounts for that State, I find that he was allowed his pay8 to the 1st June 1781. and no longer, he having as is remarked by the said Commissioner on the face of the account assigned on that day~ it appears by his petition that he claims depreciation on his pay as forage master, I beg leave to observe to you that the claim is barred by an act of limitation.
