Title
Money Requested; Proper Estimates
Description
Will attempt to obtain money requested by Craig, but notes that Craig did not provide a precise estimate of objects requested. Captain Cooke's detachment marches from Carlisle. Worries that Ohio River might be closed. Wants to know dimensions of buildings erected at Wheeling. Approves of Craig coming to Philadelphia as long as he has leaves business to a worthy substitute.

No 140 December 21 1793
Sir
Yours of the 13th has been received. I am much gratified by the expeditious departure of the Money and the subsequent dispatches.
The money you request, namely five thousand dollars in order to close your transactions of the year, I will endeavour to have furnished by the next post. But I am sorry that you did not send a precise estimate of the objects for which this is required.
The detachment under Captain Cooke marched the 12th from Carlisle amounting to Eighty four Non Commissioned and Privates. I am apprehensive the river will be closed with ice before the detachment shall arrive, if so it is to be quartered at Pittsburg but if not it is to descend the Ohio according to directions given to Major Cass
Let
Let me know the precise number and dimensions of the buildings erected at Wheeling.
I shall have no objection to your repairing here at the time you mentioned, provided you leave the business with which you are charged in such a train of execution as if you should be present.
I am Sir with great esteem your humble servant
