Description
Knox directs Chapin to proceed to Canandaque [Canadaigua], by way of New York and Albany. He is to take with him the Farmer's Brother and other Seneca Indians who arrived in Philadelphia with Jasper Parish, the interpreter. Chapin will be given $400 to defray expenses. He is also given $150 to purchases horses for the Farmer's Brother and Red Jacket, the Seneka Chief.

You are to proceed from hence to Canandaque, by the way of New York and Albany, taking under your immediate care, the Farmer's Brother, and the other Seneka Indians now in this city, who lately arrived here with Jasper Parish the interpreter--Mr Parish will also accompany you.
You have been furnished with the sum of Four Hundred dollars, to defray the necessary expences of the journey, and for the expenditure of which you will take duplicate receipts.
You are also entrusted with the sum of one hundred & sixty--------dollars, which is to be applied to the purchase of two horses with saddles & bridles, when you arrive at Albany, one of which you will deliver to the Farmers Brother, and the other you will take with you and deliver to Red Jacket the Seneka Chief, when you arrive at Buffalo Creek. For the delivery of these horses you will take receipts in the preference of witneses, who are to subscribe their names thereto.
You will use every precaution to guard the indians from any insult or injury while on their journey.
