Description
The horses returned on the 19th of February. Smith has sent a bushel of potatoes, a few eggs, a small quantity of butter, a half dozen fowls, and a lamb but he fears he cannot get lime. He discovered upon butchering of lamb that the quality was not what he had hoped.

I have also sent [ripped edge] 1/2 of corn which I [illegible] to you to order it taken out immediately that Canoe may return One of the hands that I engaged has got Drunk and has wretchedly retained me O the Depravity of man!

Last Evening I received your favour and now In part answer your request as to the Date when the horses returned I find to Be the 19 of Feb - 5 bushel of potatoes a few eggs a small quantity of Butter [*] a half Dozen of fowls & a Lamb word comes the Sime [editor: word?] I fear at present I cannot getBut if you devsi [hole in paper] to Engage it in to me three weeks probably I can get it in the course of that time

N.B. I thought it best to have the fowl & lamb killed as they were not sent Last night but unfortunately I found myself mistaken about the quality of the Lamb when I came to have it butchered it turned out not as fat as it was represented to me. However if you Don't like it please send it back.
I would have sent more but could not get it to please me.
