Sir, Richmond, Apl. 17. 1792
Yours of the 13<sup>th</sup>. March was last Friday delivered me by Capt. Smith, whose indisposition detained him on the way. He has [undecipherable] the five hundred dollars in post notes of the Bank of the United States which you remitted by direction of the Secretary at War, to be applied [undecipherable] to his direction. I have accordingly applied ^ <sup>the money</sup> and forwarded to the War Office the proper receipts. I hope therefore that no debit has been placed in your Books of account here, or that if there has, it will be done away by the receipts I have transmitted in above.
