Letter from Secretary of War Henry Knox to the Reverend Samuel Kirkland on the transportation of delegation of Chiefs and Warriors to Philadelphia

Description

Knox is glad that Kirkland has successfully obtained the commitment of delegation to Philadelphia. While the numbers of attendees may be objectionable, he concurs with Kirkland's decision. Colonel Porter and Lieutenant Sedam will help conduct the Indians to Philadelphia in order to prevent insult by inhabitants along route. Asks to be notified of arrival time and manner of lodging. Sends $700 to help defray expenses of journey. Asks for duplicate receipts. President of United States asks that no pains or expenses be spared to obtain a vessel for Captain Brant; arrange matter on best possible footing.
