I expect that Major general Butler has defended the Ohio and that he, or the Quartermaster general has left you particular orders to forward the troops and stores as they may arrive.
You will as soon as the troops, or stores, arrive provide the means of their descending to Headquarters at Fort Washington--always taking care that the Latter are under a sufficient escort.
Captain Newman with eighty three men will be at Fort Pitt about the twenty fifth instant, and Capn Buell with about one hundred and thirty
