Sir
I have the honor to inform your Excellency, that the force destined for the offensive operations of the Campaign northwest of the Ohio have been raised and marched and the greater part carried on the waters of the Ohio _ and that the rendezvous will be at Fort Washington, during the present month _
The regular force which will be assembled, is considered as sufficient for the objects to be accomplished _ But, a more extensive combination of the Indian Nations, and other circumstances, not estimated, may render it otherwise
In this case, the commanding General is authorised to call for such numbers and species of Militia from Kentucky as the nature of the case may require

The President of the United States has commanded me to make this communication to your Excellency, and request that if there are any measures on the part of the executive of Virginia which would add efficacy to the call of the General, in case it should be made, that you would be pleased to issue the directions accordingly _
