Sir,
Enclosed is a statement of the account of Luke Day late Capt. in Col. Alden, Rep. for Recruiting--the Card its given by Capt. Day are all voluntary, but which are qualifyed to agreeable to roster prescribed on [undecipherable] the balance old [undecipherable] Accounts of Colo. Alden & LtColo. Stacey do not appiar to have been settled neither in these any monies charged Capt. Day in the Books of this office. I therefore take it for granted that the sums credited on this account are the whole received by Capt. Day for the Recruiting Service--the subsistence due Lieut Benjamin Read is retained subject to his orders as no authority is produced by Capt. Day to receive it--
