Sir
In consequence of your representation of the 6th of May by Captain Kirkwood of the exposed situation and defenceless State of Ohio County for want of arms and ammunition, I have directed Major Craig of Fort Pitt, who is keeper of the public magazine at that place, to send to Colonel Jane at Wheeling, to be delivered to your order, one hundred stands of Arms and bayonets two barrels of musket powder and four hundred weight of lead.
I have directed these articles to be delivered as a loan from the United States to the State of Virginia, and you are receipt for them accordingly.
I shall inform the Governor of Virginia
of

of this transaction--You will therefore consider yourself as responsible to him for the proper disposal of this property.
