I Received your Letter of the 3d of March on the 22d Inst: a few days before I Received yours I received orders from the government of Virginia to order out Fifty men, under two Officers, which I had done as yours came to hand, and which number of Men I shall continue. After consulting the Lieutenant of Washington County Pennsyia [undecipherable] the following determination [undecipherable]arrange the men in such a manner as would best cover both counties, I made

made a contract with John McIntire for supplying the men with Rations at Eight Cents p Ration.
We labour under some dire advantage for want of ammunition.
