Court of Spain accedes to right of navigation on Mississippi

Description

Through Dr. Craigie and Mr. Daniel Parker, Hamilton reports that Mr. De Miranda has conversed with the Marquis Del Campo, Spanish Minister to Great Britain, that the Court of Spain has acceded to the United States' right of navigating the Mississippi River. Colonel William Stephens Smith, John Adam's son in law, read Hamilton a passage, which mentions that orders were sent to the Vice Roy of Mexico and Governor of New Orleans not to interrupt passage of United States vessels through the river. Also reports from Captain Watson that peace has taken place between Britain and Spain. But the press of seamen continues. Captain Hunter states that vigorous preparations for war taking place at St. Andero.
