"I can assure you Sir, that the
families of this County (which is about forty
miles) have considered themselves in immi-
nent danger all the last Spring, but
their fears are much increased since the
last hostilities committed on the wilder-
ness Road, and Indian signs discovered
very lately upon [undecipherable] Camp."
"The mischief above referred to
was in Madison County about 40 miles
from the Inhabitants - 4 killed - 2 wounded
10 or 12 Horses with valuable property" -
