Sir
[undecipherable] to your request of the 15th instt I have to inform you that it does not appear from the accounts of Massachusetts against the United States filed in my office that any depreciation has been allowance has been made to officers derang'd under the resolve of Congress of 24' Novr 78 to make good the depreciation on the years pay granted them by said resolve nor does it appear that any of the States whose accounts I have examin'd granted any such depreciation or allowance
