Herewith I transmit you a letter to me from the Secretary of the Treasury on the subject of the Accounts of Genl Hazen & of his several claims upon the United States.
I will thank you to furnish me with such information as you may possess on the various matters respecting these claims concerning which the Secretary has made enquiry, and to print this information as particularly as possible to the different objects specified in his letter
Accompanying the letter is a report of the Auditor who has lately had these claims of Genl Hazen under examination you will oblige me by giving your opinion fully upon thereon I am Yr Most obedt Sert Ns Eveleigh Comptr
P.S. I must beg you to return the papers with your answer
