"An express came here this
morning with the disagreable news of the
Indians having committed hostilites on
one of our frontier settlements on the 23Superscript textd:insSuperscript textt [instant]
two parties attached on early about the same
time, two families on Dunkard's creek, about
twenty to twenty five miles from this place
and killed one man, out of one, and the
man & his wife and two children, which
was the whole of the other family__the
alarm given to the frontier of this county
generally by this murder hath become
very serious, and unless some speedy assist
ance is given I am something of opinion
that the Monongahalia river (which runs
