John Evans Lt of the county of Monongahalia to the Executive of Virginia 25th April 1789
"On the 23rd instant the Indians committed hostilities on the frontiers of this county, killed captain William Thomas, Joseph Combridge & wife, and two children on Bunker's Creek. which has alarmed the people in such a degree as to occasion them to apply to me for assistance".
