War Office 28th Octr 1788
Sir/
I have to aknowledge the receipt this day of
One Hundred and Fifty pounds Lawful Money all in Gold,
and of a draft on Richard Platt Esqr. for One thousand
Dollars brought from Hartford by Capt. Wm. Price-- Mr.
Platt had previously informed me that he had a thousand
Dollars Subject to my order in consequence of a letter he
received from you on the 25th Instant.
In the absence of the Secretary at War
I have the Honor to be
Sire, Your Most Obedt Servant

NB. The above sums of £450
were charged Genl. Knox the 23d Octr 1788
[first hand again:]
Col. J. Wadsworth
PS. As Genl. Knox is to remain at Boston some time
longer I beg you to send on under another cover the letter
directed for him to your care at Hartford.
