Sir
Your letters of the 20 of June and 17th instant were duly received __ I should not have troubled you to have wrote a second letter on the same subject if the vouchers for general Smallwood's pay & subsistence had been found on my first application, by some accident or other it was mislaid __ I now inclose you a copy of it by which you will be informed that the sum of 1023 23/90_dollars, the charge transmitted ou from tis office. was received for subsistence, for 1782 & 1783__Mr OHarra has taken the a note of it & will close the Generals account in te books of the office
Mr Pierce still continues very low & weak. I think he cannot possibly survive may weeks__ I am Yours
