Description

Comments on the funds Wadsworth currently has and is expected to obtain in the near future (amounting to $4000). Mentions a draw upon Wadsworth for clothing for the men at Springfield. New York 29 June 1788
My dear friend
Your favor of the 26th came to hand last evening
The three thousand dollars you have now onhand, and the one thousand you are in hopes to furnish in all August will answer until you shall receive further supplies
I have drawn on you by this post in favor of the Springfield pop people as follows. for Capt Bryant 330 Dollars
Wm Smith 142 58
96
472 58
96
As to the remainder of the three thousand I must depend on you to transmit it to me in the course of this ongoing week (Editor's note: next line partially cut off) as (Platts - this word is cut off) cannot assist, nor any other person.

I find by an advertisement that the stage will come through to this place from New Haven after the 1st of July - If Base or any other person in whom you can repose full confidence comes in the stage forward the money by that conveyance, unless you will be here yourself by the 10th of Se take it under your own charge - please to let me know the mode but any rate
Suffer me truly either on your sending it safely or bringing it yourself by the 10th
I rejoce with you on New Hampshires adoption - It secures the point - Virginia will accept without doubt with a small majority Madison writes so by Nietass Pop

dated Au 19th
But it is not certain whether the question would have been taken on the 21st, or that a small adjournment of a few days should then take place to accommodate the assembly which was to meet on the 23d- a majority was supported to be secured in either case but if the Major adjournment took place untill tomorrow as was probable the majority will be increased by the news from New Hampshire for it will reach Richmond this day or early tomorrow morning-
ity

I admire your cusses- (Editor's note: next word is cut off) but you have no occasion to be
use them- The Antis will have the -occasion-
I know not {Illegible} it goes in the convention of this State- the Minority it is said has encreased to 25, whether it will rise higher is uncertain- If my information be true they will propose certain amendments and then adjourn
The influence of New Hampshire & even Virginia would not be conclusive it might move some but the majority would be inflexible.

I shall not set out until the 8th or 10th<iins>

I am your sincere
& affectionate
HKnox
