Description

Refers to fear of Indian attack on the Miami. Will save public money by conducting operations on water rather than land. Describes different types of boats in use. Will overtake Captain Zeigler. Transportation of goods along the rivers requires guards. Reports arrival of Captain Ferguson with supplies for the troops. Expresses concern about necessary provisions and their contractors, and hopes bills will be duly honored. Reports receipt of money to pay the troops and for other expenses. Has employed the services of a Canadian interpreter who understands the different dialects of the Wabash Indians. Has hired woodsmen to carry dispatches between posts. Reports murder of an Indian and the imprisonment of the murder, who fell overboard and drowned. Reports the presence of British traders, whom he means to expel from the land. Reports activities with the Chickasaw Nation and the Chocktaws. Sent an officer to take sick & invalids to the garrison at the fort at the Rapids of the Ohio.
