Gentlemen
I do myself the honor to transmit to you
the returns of specie yet due the officers, non-commiss
Officers and privates of the late line of Virginia. The
abstracts A and B will [undecipherable] the amount due to the
[editor's note: two undecipherable lines of text] for the years 1782 & 1783
this abstract has been made from the accounts of
the Individuals lodged in My office -- and as the
Officers of the line were Stationed at these two years
at different posts in the Southern department
there may be is a probability that they have been
supplied with rations for some part of the time
from the public magazines. I have therefore
been Obliged to depend on the oath or certified account of the
Officer for the Justice of his Claim.
