Regarding George Winchester's account

Regarding George Winchester's account, the author is at a loss as to the entries in the Pay Master General's books especially relative to the advances sent him against the Maryland line. Mr. Pierce's records should show a column for New Emission and a column for specie and a sum received in New Emission, when reduced to specie, would equal three months pay and subsistence. The author hopes that his accounts are being examined promptly since he cannot rectify any errors until he actually sees them.

in this paper if I mistake not is inserted a column for the New Emission and a column for the specie payments

a sum of New Emission had been received which when reduc'd to specie would be equal to three months pay and Subsistence

my estimate of specie (as mentioned in the letter that inclosed it) was founded on the paper in my Office only

no charge of this kind will appear to have been sent me against Mr. Winchester

I hope nothing will interfere to prevent Mr. OHara's going on with entering my accounts as more errors may possibly appear and the sooner I am apprised of them the better opportunity there will be to get them rectified
