Title
Accommodating the Tour of Mr. Tharp Through the Eastern States
Description
Mr. Tharp of Jamaica is on the American continent to recover his health, and to that end is touring the Eastern states. Jackson asks if he may have the privilege of introducing Tharp to Lincoln, in order to make Tharps stay in Boston as agreeable as possible and to create positive sentiment in Jamaica. Tharp lodged with Jackson in the past, and Jackson vouches for his manners and conduct.

My dear General,
The Gentleman who honors this letter with his care is Mr. Tharp of Jamaica -- he is on a visit to the Continent for the recovery of his health - and to promote that valuable object he purposes a tour through the eastern states.
With a view to render his residence in Boston as agreeable as possible, and in order to produce the fairest report of our country, I beg leave to introduce him to the honor of your acquaintance and to request for him your best civilities while in Boston -- he has been sometime a fellow Lodger with me and I am authorised, as well from my own observation, as the report of his respectable friends, to assure you of meeting in Mr. Tharp the polite Gentleman and agreeable acquaintance.
The packet with which Mr. Tharp is so good as to charge himself is forwarded at
the request of our State Society - and would have been sent sooner had any opportunity so good as the present conveyance offered.
You will oblige me, my dear General, by making Mr. Tharp acquainted with your friends, to all of whom I offer my most respectful remembrance. -- Be pleased to present my affectionate respects to Mrs. Lincoln and the family - and be persuaded of the truth with which I am ever yours
