Title
On the matter of half pay and delivery of certificates
Description
The author states that he obtained a copy of the payrolls and receipts and it appears that he has not received the whole amount of the half-pay per month that he is due. Colonel DeFlaas's death means that there will be a delay in the delivery of his Certificates. He asks the recipient to inform him of whatever vouchers may be needed to settle his account.

D. Sir
After I returned from N York Col, DeHaas was so ill that I could not see him, and soon after died, a few days after he was buried I called on his son, from whom I obtained a copy of the Payrolls and my receipts, by which it appears I have not received the whole amount of the half pay pr month I should have received.
Mr DeHaas seems to decline giving me a Certificate until Mr Shattas settles his father's accounts, which I fear will be attended with delay I likewise found the account I had rendered him for settlement of the stoppages, which agrees with the one I left you, except one line in the credit side, which is mentioned for October, was from a former pay Roll vizt. June 30:th. to Septemr 30:th I shall be much obliged to you to inform me of every voucher that may be necessary, or whether these copies I have already obtained will be sufficient I have purchased some City Lotts for Certificates at public sale and shall be under the necessity of getting a settlement as soon as possible your friendly assistance will be ever remembered Please to write me as soon as convenient.
