New York June 20th. 1786.

Sir,

Your Letter of the 17th inst was recd. this day In mine of 20 may, last I inform'd you that there were two of the name John Smith mad up for pay in the 10th. Reg. to the first of January 1781. as there were but two of that name in the regimt. I have reason to believe the Smith you make mention of is one of them, you will therefore apply to Mr. Nicholson for his Certificate which is numbered 67,967 for 3330/90 Dols. the pay due each Soldier from 1t. Aug. 1780 to 1 Jany. 1871. —

Enclosed you will receive Smith's order, which I suppose will be sufficient for Mr. Nicholson
