8th May 1786
Recd 12th June
Major Hodgdon
I am now at Court, surrounded
with clients, and consequently confused with
Noise, business &c. &c. &c. I have an immediate
opportunity of writing to you - The objects of
this Letter are twofold - First to complain
of your silence, and secondly to inform you
that Mr. Thompson will remit you £2 this
Money for the platte &c. which you sent me -
I have not your Letter about me, and therefore
am not certain of the precise sum due -
If I should be under the mark, pray acquaint
me. - I have not been favoured with a letter
from you for an age. were I not morally
certain that you recd my last by Doctor
Harrington, in which I assured you that your
accusation of neglect in me was illfounded,
I should be at this moment unhappy in thinking
that you had resolved to write me no
more. - Do let me hear from you by the
first opportunity, excuse haste & believe
me to be unfeignedly
