Philada. 25th. March 1786:

Sir,

I took the liberty of writing you a few lines the 11 Inst. which I enclosed under cover to J. Pierce Esqr as directed, and which I hope you received safe, as also troubled you to deliver one to J. Pennell Esqr if in N. York — Your hurry of business I suppose has prevented my having the pleasure of hearing from you, but I shall take it as a very particular favor if on receipt hereof, you will condescend to write me, and mention whether Mr. Pennell be in N. York or not — I have wrote Col. Becker per this conveyance.
I am &c
John Hoope

J. Howell Esqr.
