John Pierce, Commissioner of Army Accounts, informs Samuel Hodgdon, Commissioner of Military Stores, of the extreme difficulty in determining the monies due to soldiers from the early years of the Revolutionary War. Due to this difficulty, Pierce is not inclined to honor claims from 1775 and 1776.
