War Office New York 15th July 1785
Dear Sir
Congress having been pleased to refer to me as
Secretary at war your letter to them of the 18 March last with
its enclosures relative to the honorary presents of swords and
medals to His Excellency General Washington and other gallant
officers I take the earliest opportunity of communicating with
you upon the subject
It is to be presumed that the letter of credit in your
favor from Mr. Morris on Mr. LeGrand is perfectly good but
least there should be any doubts respecting it the Board of
Treasury with whom I have conferred on the subject will write
to Mr. LeGrand through you enforcing the payment of your
drafts
I am my dear Sir
with perfect esteem
Your very humble Servant
