Sir
I am told by the treasurer of the state of New Jersey
that in your late returns to him of the Jersey line no mem=
-tion is made of the Detached individuals in the horse, Artille=
=ry, Artificers, [undecipherable] and altho' the treasurer has returns of
them in his own Office, yet he thinks nothing valid unless
it comes from you, I am therefore induced to Apply to you
in a particular manner in behalf of Major Jeremiah Brown
of Colonel Baldwin's Artificers and myself late a Lieu.t
in the 2nd Regiment of Artillery and will be particular=
=ly indebted to you to furnish him with returns of us si=
=milar to those of the Jersey Reg.ts - Both of us have been
credited to Jersey and received our Depreciation from
that state and are residents in it. Should you
find this request consistant with your duty, I would
thank you to send the return asked for as soon as you
can make it convenient to the Treasurers Office at
Trenton.
