Camp near Fort Pitt, On the Indian Shore, the Western side of the Allegany river.
December 5, 1784
Sir
I have the honor to enclose to your Excellency a monthly return of the Pennsylvania and Jersey Troops, in the service of the United States.
The honorable the Commissioners for Indian Affairs, did arrive here until the 2nd inst. Considering the advanced season of the year, the difficulty of supplies &c they have resolved that the Troops, Horses, Provisions &c shall be removed to Fort McIntosh, Thirty miles distant from hence, down the Ohio River at which place they mean to hold the Treaty instead of
Cuyahoga and have accordingly dispached their Messenger this day to invite the Indians to assemble there.
In consequence of their resolve the Pennsylvania Troops marched from this encampment, this morning for Fort MIntosh.
After conclusion of the Treaty I shall wait orders from your Excellency concerning the evacuation of the british Posts; at what time they are to be given up; and in what proportion the American Troops are to be distributed in garrisoning them.
