Dear Sir;
Your return of clothing received at Fort Pitt amounted to 32.68/90 Dollars. - I however will make it 33.42/90 as you say. As my appointment confines me to Officers & Soldiers of the State of Virginia I settle with none but those who were and are Citizens thereof and for that reason I furnished you with a return of that part of Lt. Col. Lee's Legion belonging to the states of Pennsylvania and Delaware, examined & remarks noted agreeable to returns given me. I also gave Mr. White a return of those belonging to Maryland.
The settlement of W. Lovells account will not come under notice, he being of Massachusetts, Mr. [undecipherable] can settle it, if he knows his due.
Colonel Carrington will furnish the return of charges you speak of, therefore you need not send them.
I wish to have a return from the War Office of the regiments of horse belonging to this State, to know the Appointments, promotions, etc. of the Officers.
With much Esteem I am your Obed. Servt.
A. Dunscomb
Lt. Howell Esquire
