Dear Sir
It would be a particular favor rendered me if you could review and ascertain who's Pay, if any, was advanced to the Hospital and particularly to myself, for the year 1781.
The Legislators of N. York have passed a Law giving in Notes the Pay of that year to the Line of the Hospitals of this State, but require that each Applicant shall deliver a Certificate from you as Pay Master Genl what pay if any was advanced the said year and as the Commissioners are now sitting I would entreat your earliest Attention [undecipherable] to the Subject as far as respect myself, that I may settle with them before they break up.
I and Doct. Cochran do not recollect that any was advanced for said year at least I do not that I received any for myself.
I would also ask that you would be pleased to remit my Commutation Notes by the first safe Conveyance, or Majr Sergeant, who will return to [undecipherable] in a few Days.
I am Dr.Sir with much Regard, your [undecipherable]Hble Servt
