Sir
I am informed you are cutting the wood off the land belonging to the public, and now under Rent to Colonel Porter_ I am to inform you that I expect a very particular account of your conduct, and by what or whose authority you presume to fell a Single Tree_ On no condition will you cut a Tree down after you receive this, without my express permission, on penalty of an immediate prosecution_
