Sir,
I am to acknowlege the Favor of your Letter of the third Instant from West Point. On the twenty second of last Month I replied to yours of the eighth and eighteenth the Contents of which Letters will have informed you that I had taken the Arrangements - which you desire for Supply of the Troops. I have also determined to enable the Paymaster (if pofsible) to pay the Officers their Subsistence in

It is true that Sm[illegible]fo of the present a Number will render that Object [un] manageable, but it is equally true that the Smallnefs of the Contributions which I receive renders it extremely difficult - [enclosed?] you have a Copy of my Letter to Gen.l Jackson [agrees] your Request, the Contents of it will I hope meet your Wishes
