Harrison Dated Dec.r 1st1800 277 Philad.a December 1 th 1800 Sir We have made enquiery for Simon Messinger, for the purchase of knowing from hom the particulars respecting the Machine directed, by the late Sect.ry of War, to be made for the use of the Navy, as yet we have not been able to find him, We also wrote M.r McHenry on the Subject, we expect his answer herewith, and his direction, on the back of Messingers Letter to him in your possessoion, for Mr Francis to advance the $ 100 with the Sufficient Vouchers to Obtain via Credit for that Sum ~ It is possible the Instrument has not, nor never will be comblated in which can we showed Suppon the Representatives of the late Agent and not to loon the advances made by the express direction of the Sectry of War, whose power at that time embraced the affairs of the Navy – If we can find Messinger we will obtain every information in our power respecting the Instrument.
