Private Letter
Document 1792Wilkinson writes regarding a conflict between two officers. It is apparently rooted in a frivolous matter, but the men refused Wilkinson's officer to act as mediator.

The Honble Major General Knox Philadelphia D. 59 Col. Wilkinson XXX-92 (Private) Fort Washington January 24th 1792 Dear Sir On my Arrival here [undecipherable] Major Leister M[?] Surgeon, at [undecipherable] I soon discovered that the content, has originated on frivolous grounds & offered my mediation, but it was rejected. the disagreeable concequences is however lately to e[?] unless you should take the way I as his word & accept his Commission which I am informed he, in the war on such [undecipherable] nation, has tended to serv - will you [undecipherable] for me to [undecipherable] on this occasion in favour of the Major - in his present station he is a [undecipherable] [undecipherable] Officers, altho he has behaved with unbecoming, Disturbance[?] has not died of suitors the [undecipherable] indeed he might his Commission wanted he [undecipherable] destroy Him, and at the same time he would be a loss to the Army My Personal attention has become massaints[?] so much au[?] by the defending movement, that it has not [undecipherable] in my p[?] to bring forward at this time, several matters which have [undecipherable] my observation, but due [undecipherable] shall be paid to them in my next Letter.
